Erika DeLaRosa taught 7th grade English/Language Arts and served as Department Chair in the neighborhood she grew up in and currently lives in Houston, Texas. She prioritized knowing and honoring the varied experiences and cultures of her students to ensure that they were exposed to a curriculum that validated, inspired, and empowered them to reach their own academic and life goals. In addition to serving her students, she served as a Teacher-Mentor for first year teachers as well as college student-teachers.
She was selected as a 2021-2022 Latinos for Education Teacher fellow, a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Policy Fellow, a 2023-2024 Houston Policy Fellow, and as the 2023 Inspira Award Recipient from Latinos for Education. Erika works with Teach Plus, Latinos for Education, and Leadership of Educational Equity (LEE) to pursue more just policies to support the education of all children. She earned her BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University, College Station and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Houston, Downtown.
In 2024, she was selected as a LEE Public Policy Fellow with the Freedom Coalition for Charter Schools where she will use her experience in the classroom and her deep passion for educational equity to continue to work towards educational policies that benefit all children.
