Utopian Academy for the Arts is a one-of-a-kind arts-centered network of charter schools in Clayton and Fayette Counties that is actively working to meet the demand of Georgia’s expanding film and television industry. The network offers a course catalog of core subjects plus animation, coding, dance, digital arts, fashion design, film and television, music, and theater. The schools provide low-income, predominantly Black communities access to offerings that are increasingly exclusive to white and more affluent areas. Utopian has forged partnerships and strategic relationships with the Georgia Film Academy, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Economic Development to prepare the state’s next wave of industry-ready professionals.
