Houston, Texas –  The Freedom Coalition for Charter Schools (FCCS) is concerned about the Trump administration’s decision to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education. The drastic moves to cut funding and layoff 1,300 employees puts millions of vulnerable families at risk who rely on federal funding to receive a fair and equitable public education

At a time when our educational system is facing numerous challenges, including persistent disparities in access, funding, and academic outcomes, dismantling the Department of Education is a step backward. Instead of closing the department, we urge the administration to focus on reforms that prioritize accountability, support for students, and the protection of essential educational services, especially for low-income and vulnerable communities.

FCCS remains committed to advocating for policies that ensure all children, regardless of their background, have access to a quality public education. We call on the administration to reconsider this decision and work toward a solution that uplifts, rather than further burdens, those who are most in need.
